Your Manufacturers and Distributors
are putting YOU out of business!
Mail-order has been unfairly under-pricing their products for years in the Pet industry.
What we demand is an even playing field! Mail-order (here is a news alert, mail-order is actually retail) should not be able sell their products for less than what we can buy the same products for! This is unfair business practice. We have proof of twisted truths concerning "favor status" pricing and "kickbacks" to mail-order.
Our Manufacturers and Distributors are smiling shaking your hand saying "we're here for you, the Pet store dealers" while in reality, behind our backs the other hand is ready to pull the electrical plug to your store.
We are fed up with the placating "Oh yes, we understand but there is nothing we can do about it." BS!!
Look around; there are less retail Pet stores in our cities from Weed, CA to El Centro. Heck, there are fewer and fewer "Store owners and Managers" coming to the conventions. We used to say, oh well, less competition. Now we know that we make more money when customers flock to an area of multiple stores.
We refuse to be steam rolled by disingenuine Manufacturers and Distributors. They sell 10%, 20% some up to 30% of their gross to mail-order. But we represent the other 70%, 80% and 90% of their sales!
Even now the largest livestock distributors are selling to mail-order and some even direct to the public with free or discounted freight and no tax. The greed is amazing. We ask "How can we fairly compete?"
Do we wait until we can't feed our families?
Let's make them accountable!
Without us, meaning you, there will be no Pet industry!!!! The Reptile, Fish and small animal business would shrink to a trickle as soon as customers couldn't see, touch and feel them!
You know as well as we do the manufacturers and distributors are in business to sell as much product as possible to any one who will buy it, Brick and Mortar Retail or mail-order. There is a profound need for mail-order to reach "out of the way locations" or areas lacking inventory. But not using the double standard pricing supported by M and D.
While we applaud a handful of manufacturers supporting MAP pricing, this is just a facade, on multiple internet sites you can Google the product, go to the mail-order site's product page and it states "in stock". Wa 'la, Mail-order just stood behind the MAP pricing. Click on the "in stock" product and there it is, selling for less than we the dealers can buy it for. Anther rouge is the sale price on-line. By stating sale, they get around the thin veil of cooperating with manufacturers.
Multiple industries outside of our own Pet industry have worked with M and D to curtail the demise of their industries. It is up to us to look after ours; M and D obviously can not.
Support the few manufacturers and distributors that support us! Please put this in the view of everyone you can. And talk with your Manufacturers and Distributors' management! Demand to speak to the owners and CEO's of the companies themselves. These people have always shielded themselves by a glass wall called "your reps". They need to know first hand, from you! Don't lose your customer base, use your power.
This is absolutely a "not for profit coalition for the betterment of our industry". We already have a collective voice of hundreds, who we need is you, and for you to make us a voice of thousands! Our office is in every Pet store in America and at your desk! Help us to help each other. The time for sitting on our expertise, customer service and location is far gone. We, you, everyone needs a collective voice. From Groomer, Reptile or Aquatics technician, Mom and Pop store owners to the corporate multi store CEO's.
We are one voice.
